La Crescent Animal Rescue (LAR) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the protection and welfare of animals in La Crescent, Minnesota. Through our wonderful, passionate, committed team of volunteers we are able to continue with our mission to create a safe, healthy and more enjoyable experience for our animals. Volunteering also provides the chance to make new friends, both four-legged and two-legged, and help spread the word about the mission of the shelter and the animals available for adoption.

La Crescent Animal Rescue is open by appointment, or every Wednesday and Saturday. While our dogs are typically kept in foster, when we don't have an available foster home they need care at our rescue. Our cats are primarily cared for onsite. Even though we only have limited open hours to the public, the work continues around the clock! We desperately need more volunteers to keep our mission moving and our animals cared for.

SPECIFIC ROLES WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

LAR is seeking individuals with a passion for animal rescue and grant writing experience to help grow our organization as a Grants Administrator

Responsibilities:

Identify and research federal, state, and philanthropic grant opportunities suitable for LAR
Manages pre- and post-award duties to ensure compliance
Communicate grant requirements to the Board of Directors

Do you strive to educate community members and enjoy organizing important processes for the health and well-being of dogs in need? LAR urgently needs your help to ensure our rescue mission continues without disruption!

Responsibilities:

Overall decisions regarding dogs in our care
Check voicemail daily
Approval of all dog walkers and foster applications
Decisions regarding dogs accepted into LAR
Approve and/or arrange and conduct vet clinic visits
Training of dog walkers
Maintain supply inventory, purchase supplies when needed
Decisions regarding dog training which cannot be addressed by staff
Most contacts of resources outside of LAR, some handled by each coordinator
Arrange all outside events, fundraising, etc regarding dogs
Pass on approved postings for dogs on Petfinder and Facebook
Adoptions meetings, approval and finalization

LAR is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic people-leader to help coordinate the daily operations of our animal shelter!

Responsibilities:

Manage volunteer shift schedule to ensure adequate coverage
Partner with the Animal Welfare committee to relay any special needs for the animals at the shelter
Coordinate training for new volunteers to ensure they are well-prepared and informed

Do you love cats and find it extremely satisfying to make them comfortable and being sure they are well taken care of? Are you an early riser and most productive in the morning? Do we have the spot for you!

Responsibilities:

Feeding and watering the cats
Scooping litter boxes
Mopping/vacuuming, dishes & laundry
Wiping down surfaces
